Joey's on a roll................literately!

WOW! Joey is really adding more words to his vocabulary now. He now says Thank You!

He is also starting to roll more. For a long time he has been able to roll from his tummy to his back. Although he only really does this when he is frustrated. He has now finally started to roll from his back to his tummy. He is doing this a couple times a day now.

Joey continues to amaze us. GO JOEY! GO.

Whatever it takes, no matter what!

Boy are We Keeping Busy.

Yep, we are always busy.  Between work and taking the older kids to Softball and Flag Football, it is never ending. Starting on March 23rd Joey will begin a 2 week intensive suit therapy session. For those of you who don't know what that is, Joey will be doing 4 hours of therapy a day. The center is 1 hour away. It is a very tiring session for him and I. You can read more about it under his therapy section.

As for Joey, he has been talking a lot and moving a lot. He is eating and drinking great. He has also been walking in his gait trainer at school a lot and has been doing great. He is also growing like a weed. he never stops amazing us.

Update on our China SCT trip, we are confirmed on our trip to China. The deposit has been sent and the airline tickets have been purchased. I have been taking notes on info about the China trip from other parents that have gone. So if anyone has any tips or info to offer up, I would love to hear it.

Last but not least, I would like to thank some people that have donated to Joey for our China trip and his other therapies. Thank you to our temple CBE, our friends and all those friends that we have never meet, thank you to Chatsworth Karate for including Joey in their fundraiser and most important, thank you to my Family. Without my wonderful family many of his therapies would not have been possible. I love you all.

Going to China

I am soooooooooooo excited. We just received our confirmation dates for going to China. We will be going Aug. 8th-31st. I'm going with my Mommy and Grandma Marleen. Now my mom has a million of things to get ready so that we can go.

A little info about my treatment. I will be getting 5 Stem Cell transplants. 1 or 2 will be through an IV and the others through lumbar. I will also received 2 hours of traditional and Chinese therapy 5 days a week.

We are going to Hangzhou, China. In the hospital there, they have converted the 20th floor into the SCT floor. We have a big room, there is a common kitchen that we share with the other 12 patients on the SCT floor. They also have a lounge with a tv and computers. Our room also has a tv and two couches, plus three beds and a very small fridge. There is a RT mart around the corner from the hospital where we can buy western food and supplies.

Many people have been talking to my mommy and asking many questions about the treatment. Thats ok with her. She likes talking about it. Although one thing I want to let people know is this treatment is not a cure all. Some people start seeing results right away, but most don't see result for about three to six months. What kind of results you ask that we might see, well, maybe my muscle tone is more relaxed, or maybe I am rolling and crawling and walking everywhere. Any improvement will be awesome. The worse that can happen is nothing, no improvements. We just have to wait and see. When I get back mommy is going to take me to HBOT this is like giving the cells fertilizer. I will then do a three week intensive neuro suit session.

WOW! I will have a busy fall 2009. Please pray that everything goes smooth on our trip and that we will get great results. Thank you to everyone that has donated monies to help us go to China.

Just When I Thought We Hit a Plateau.

Drinking a shamrock shake from McDonalds with Daddy. He couldn't get enough.

Just when I thought Joey hit a plateau, he proves me wrong.

I have noticed that his response time is sooooooooo much faster. He has become so much more cognitively aware. When I ask him to stop fussing or crying, he will stop right away. He cries now when I walk away. I can't pump gas without him crying because he thinks I left him. When he gets hurt he cries right away, or will get the sad lip. I'll say mommy will kiss it and make it better. Sometimes he stops and laughs and other times he just screams louder.

Today I picked him up from my dads and step moms house and I said to him, "Hi! How are you? Are you good?" Right away without hesitation he answered back with "Hello! I'm Good." I have never heard him say either word 'I'm' or 'good', let alone use it in a small sentence. WOW! This is huge. He is also focusing better and moving his fingers together better.

He keeps on surprising me. That's my boy.

Here are a few pics of him drinking a shamrock shake with his daddy. He drank half of the shake. He couldn't get enough. Every time my husband pulled the cup away he opened his mouth like a monkey making his "UH UH UH UH UH" noises. This means he wants more NOW.
